Regular and professional maintenance of track surfaces not only extends their useful life but also provides a consistent and reliable surface for athletic activities.

Preliminary preparations

Site survey

Before repairing, the track must be fully surveyed. Carefully inspect the surface of the track to determine the location, scope and extent of the damage. For example, observe whether the track has cracks, potholes, degumming, etc. For cracks, measure their length and width; for potholes, understand their depth and area. Through detailed surveys, provide accurate basis for the formulation of subsequent repair plans.
At the same time, pay attention to the surrounding environment of the track, such as whether there are water accumulation areas, which may affect the drying and bonding effect of the repair material. If there is water accumulation, the drainage problem must be solved before repairing.

Preparation of materials and tools

Materials: Prepare corresponding repair materials according to the damage of the track. Common ones include prefabricated rubber rolls, special glues, and bottom sealants that match the original track material. Ensure that the quality and performance of the materials meet the relevant standards to avoid affecting the repair effect due to material problems. For example, special glues must have good adhesion and weather resistance to ensure the firmness of the track repair under different environmental conditions.
Tools: Prepare the tools needed for construction, such as utility knives, scrapers, brushes, hammers, cutters, etc. These tools must be intact and can be used normally. For example, the utility knife should be sharp to facilitate cutting of prefabricated rubber rolls; the scraper should be flat to ensure that the glue is evenly applied.

Repair methods for different damage situations

Crack repair

Small crack treatment: For small cracks with a width of less than 5 mm, first use a brush to clean the dust and debris in the crack. Then, use special glue to evenly apply it in the crack to allow the glue to fully penetrate. Next, cut a prefabricated rubber roll with a width slightly larger than the crack and a length that is 5-10 cm longer than both ends of the crack. Paste the roll on the crack and use a scraper to scrape it from the middle to both sides to drive out the air and ensure that it is firmly pasted. Finally, apply a thin layer of glue on the surface of the roll to better integrate it with the surrounding track.
Treatment of large cracks: When the crack width is greater than 5 mm, first use a cutting machine to cut the crack into a V-shaped groove with a depth of about 1/3 of the thickness of the track. Clean the debris in the V-shaped groove, then apply the bottom sealant and wait for it to dry. Next, fill the V-shaped groove with prefabricated plastic material of the same material as the original track, and use a scraper to flatten it so that it is flush with the surface of the track. Paste a layer of prefabricated plastic coil on the filling material, using the same method as small crack repair, and finally apply glue to seal it.

Pothole repair

Shallow pit treatment: For shallow pits with a depth of less than 10 mm, first clean up the debris in the pit, and use sandpaper to polish the surrounding area of the pit to increase the bonding strength. Then, apply special glue in the pit, and paste the cut prefabricated rubber sheet on the pit. The sheet size should be 1-2 cm larger than the edge of the pit. Use a scraper to compact the sheet to ensure that it is tightly pasted without bubbles.
Deep pit treatment: If the depth of the pothole is greater than 10 mm, first fill the bottom of the pothole with a layer of base material of the same material as the track, such as EPDM particles, to 5-8 mm from the surface of the pothole. After compacting the base material, apply special glue and then paste the prefabricated rubber sheet. The method is the same as shallow pit treatment.

Debonding repair

If the track has local debonding, first lift the rubber roll of the debonded part and clean the dust and residual glue on the surface of the base. Use sandpaper to grind the base to make its surface rough and facilitate re-bonding. Then, evenly apply special glue on the base and the back of the rubber roll, wait for the glue to dry slightly and have a certain stickiness, then paste the rubber roll back to its original position, compact it with a heavy object, such as a sandbag, and leave it for 24-48 hours to ensure a firm bond.

Maintenance and inspection after repair

BẢO TRÌ

After the repair is completed, the track should be maintained. During the maintenance period, personnel and vehicles are prohibited from entering the repair area to avoid secondary damage to the repaired area. Generally speaking, the maintenance time is 2-3 days in summer and 5-7 days in winter. The specific time depends on the ambient temperature and the characteristics of the repair material.
During the maintenance period, attention should be paid to keeping the repaired area clean and dry to avoid rain erosion and sun exposure. If it rains, cover measures should be taken in time to prevent rain from entering the repaired area and affecting the bonding effect.

Inspection

After the maintenance period, the repaired area shall be fully inspected. Check the flatness of the repaired area to see if it is consistent with the surface of the surrounding track and whether there are any unevenness. Touch the repaired area with your hand to check whether the paste is firm and whether there is any looseness or warping. At the same time, check whether the color of the repaired area is consistent with the original track to ensure the overall beauty.
If problems are found in the repaired area, such as insufficient flatness and weak bonding, rework should be carried out in time to ensure that the quality and performance of the track meet the requirements.

Through the above detailed repair methods and maintenance inspection steps, the damage to the đường ray cao su đúc sẵn can be effectively repaired, its service life can be extended, and a safe and comfortable sports venue can be provided for users.
